If fans are put off by s*** performances and poor runs of form how come the TOON still attract 50,000 fans every home game.
Given that the HEED fan base over the past 10 years has averaged around 800 and we're talking now nearer 500 (why I don't know) then surely based upon the TOON's form over the past 10 years their attendances should be down at around 30,000 or less.
The HEED sadly have always suffered from poor crowds and even when we've had marginal success they've only rose by a couple of hundred. I like most have tried always to spread the word on the street but basically the Gateshead Public don't give a s*** and see themselves as part of the Newcastle Conurbation rather than part of Gateshead.
Good points indeed. As Everyone knows newcastle have been poor for years on and off the field yet attendances have not really suffered much even at the teams lowest point 2008/2009 season. They will probably loose the next few games but fans will still flock, im guessing attendances hold up due to fans having 3 year season tickets which they cant get out of and not many floaters/pay on day fans making up the crowds
