Oldham keeper went down twice for "treatment"there didn't appear too much wrong with him.(he went on to keep them in the game with good saves)Odd how it co- incided ( both times) with their manager re-organising things pitchside.Surely the ref,4th official and liner can hear whats going on?Mind you if that fella today goes up the ref's ladder the game will be in a sorry state

Unlucky today lads, the better team lost - was pretty impressed with your lads, played some nice stuff, just didn't have enough of a cutting edge. We were woeful, as predicted. Make no mistake, playing like that in the league would see us lose most games, we're usually a little better than that (not much though - see the league table!). From behind the goal was hard to see most of the contentious decisions - McCann's first foul was definitely only a yellow though. I thought it was someone else who then committed the next foul, but hard to be sure. Your fans were pretty good too - not sure about A Little Respect though Probably see you again in the conference in a season or two... Good luck for the rest of the campaign, and pray for us to get another non-league side away so we can visit another new ground!

Abealan is spot on-their manager was playing basketball style time outs to take the heat off. There was nothing wrong with several players lying down “injured” and the ref was taken for a mug. We lacked natural finishing ability as we all know but every player did a great job and we dominated in the main. Great finish for the Oldham second and that lad looked a really good player in the making but not much else to impress.Theres frustration but more that playing with this level of ability we are capable of being iright at the top of NLN not mid table as at present. Good luck to Oldham in the next round.

Great atmosphere, good performance just missing that last touch, thought the ref was very very poor, dropped a number of clangers. Massive game vs an out of sorts Chester and then Alty, Kings Lynn and then the trophy, not season defining but big weeks ahead.

Josh Smith( ref today) presumably refs' at Oldhams level regularly,if so it's really regrettable that he didn't/ wouldn't stop the antics that have been mentioned.( plus the manhandling which Willo pointed out to the 4th official,a rare thing)I sincerely hope the assessor will take him to task re the 2nd yellow which was nailed on.

Personally I don't think the ref was too bad today wasn't a pen , he dished out cards when needed and they were right. If a player goes down injured it's a tough one to see the player is faking players are good actors And maybe they did try to time waste all teams do but he did add on 6 mins I thought we were excellent but didn't take our chances they did We have no luck against league teams We murdered Rochdale last season but got knocked out Murdered Oxford away drew murdered them at home lost , played Brentford off the park drew, played west Brom off the park for 40 mins got hit for 7 One year we will get the luck we deserve

Couldn't agree more Simon. The curse of the "BIG MATCH" comes back to haunt us again, why is it that we always seem to fall just short in these types of matches, have we been cursed

Went to the game today believing we could get a draw and put in a good performance. Came away gutted and deflated. Absolutely battered them and if it wasn’t for their keeper we would have been out of sight. Every Gateshead player gave their all today and for me this was our best performance this season. Yes we are out of the cup and good luck to Oldham but I’m so proud to have been present today. A Mackem proud to support THE HEED Totally agree with you Merv - pointless blaming the referee, who I didn't think did much wrong compared with some of the muppets we have to endure. We left it all out there, and if we had taken our chances we would have won - they were able to take the two real ones they had - by an experienced Portuguese player and a Championship loanee - and that, I guess, is the difference between the two divisions! But why, oh why, did we leave it so late to bring on Jordan Preston?

Can't understand why we don't keep an eye on the Northern League for some youngster on the way up. We have great attacking players, but nobody who's a natural goalscorer, and we will struggle to put teams away until we find one - look at our goals for column in the league table 😥

All ifs and buts
Would boden run them a merry dance that kayode did yesterday
We are a side that certainly create chances I enjoy watching us at present we have players very comfortable on the ball
All teams would love a Shaw or novak not easy to find and don't come cheap not sure we have the pull or cash to bring one in nowadays Yesterday proved we have a decent side playing it the right way and are a goal threat. We didn't win yesterday and it's a huge shame but I think any new fans yesterday would have enjoyed yesterday and will be back for more I'm sure Lets be happy with that for now
