I wouldn't say that we were battered tonight against Salford tonight. They have a big experienced squad at their disposal. We weren't great but we weren't poor. We tried to control the game but a lot of final balls in Salfords third went astray. The lads gave it their all and we did have spells of controlling the game and putting Salford on the back foot but couldn't get the shoots in on goal. Their keeper was only really tested once in the second half with Armstrong shot being parried away and then Luke hitting the post. My first visit to the Peninsula Stadium it looked impressive from the outside, inside the stadium its compact but one thing let's it down is the slope on the pitch which makes the stadium look lop sided (looks like the architect was drunk when they designed it!!) Even though it was a low attendance the atmosphere was poor. The 15 Heed fans made more noise (of course) The game at times felt like a friendly, at the final whistle there wasnt much of a cheer from the home fans and no music to walk out of the stadium too, which felt like would the last person out turn the lights out! I'm not too disappointed about the trophy exit, looking forward to our league performances now.
